Councilman Adrian Baofo is of Ghanaian heritage. On November 18th, 2019, He was sworn in to the Bowie City Council to represent District 3 in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Adrian Baofo is noted as the first Ghanaian to be elected into political office in the United States.
On his campaign, Baofo advocated for accountability and transparency in government. He believes elected officials must answer to their constituents, listen to their concerns and involve them in the decision-making process. He plans to create new channels for open discussions and implement civic engagement strategies to keep District 3 residents more informed.
