The Nigerian Diaspora commission (NIDCOM) is designed to be a channel for Nigerians in Diaspora to engage in the policies, projects and participation in the development of Nigeria for the purpose of utilizing the human capital and material resources of Nigerians in Diaspora towards the overall socio-economic, cultural, and political development of Nigeria and for related matters.
The policy was written by Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) members. The commission was put together for all Nigerians in diaspora to have access and engage in national development. Our dear nation, Nigeria need the huge reservoir of skills, knowledge, and experience of Nigerians abroad for Nigeria’s growth and development. There is an urgent need for all to align for a great cause – National Development. We got work to do in our homeland. Sincerely and consciously, we can contribute our quota.
FUNCTIONS OF THE BOARD
The commission shall have the power to;
Manage the funds, with respect to day-to-day running of the commission.
Mobilize and execute programs that will compliment and advise the Federal Government on major area of accelerated development.
Formulate policies as the commission may from time to time determine.
Coordinate and harmonize all continental Nigeria Diaspora Organizations.
Advise the government on all levels on matters related to the act.
Carry out trainings for the staffs of the commission.
Set up a World-wide council (consisting of Continental, Regional and Local Leadership).
Reach out to Nigerian communities abroad through their various groups, organizations and professional bodies.
Articulate its mandate and that of the government properly and widely.
Strengthen the existing administrative set up of NIDO.
Work in concert with the NIDO, professional sub-committees, sub-committees on the professional groups, and the various socio-cultural groups.
